Ann is a freelance tutor who taught City and Guilds embroidery at Fareham College, Hampshire, for many years. She is a National Advisor for the City and Guilds Creative studies certificate in Lacemaking as well as acting as External Verifier for both that and embroidery, fashion and patchwork and quilting.

She is a member of the Practical Study Group and the Westhope group and has exhibited both at home and abroad.

She works with two hats! As a lacemaker she is passionate in believing that we of this generation must leave something unique behind and not just rest on the laurels of tradition. To this end she supports the Westhope group and tries in her teaching with the Lace Guild to encourage experimentation. She enjoys constructing 3 dimensional paper sculpture with additional needle lace and bobbin lace on a large scale with unusual yarns.

In embroidery much of her work tends to be on the machine due to time constraints. However paper in all its varies guises has been a recent and continuing inspiration. The exploration of the surface and qualities of paper when stitched and manipulated producing the latest body of work.
