My work has been inspired by the sea and all things nautical for the past eight years. As a result of this long and intensive study, my work has gradually become less figurative and more abstract. I find I am drawn to the unusual compositions of American abstract painters.

My paintings with pastels help inform the textiles I produce, and the textiles affect my paintings. I create hand and machine-stitched panels using silk fabrics for their lustre and colour saturation. I exhibit and sell my work in galleries around Britain and have exhibited in Japan and Copenhagen, Denmark. My work is in private collections as well as in the corporate offices of KPMG.

I am a member of the Society of Designer Craftsmen as well as the Practical Study Group. Having taught City and Guilds Embroidery for many years, I now teach freelance, specialising mainly in designing from a given source, and including an interest in unusual composition and colour. My talks include Working to a Theme and, using my own collection, Purses.
